Summary:

Lecturers’ digital competence is a decisive factor affecting the effectiveness of digital transformation in education and training at military academies and officer schools in the current context. However, nowadays, many lecturers still face difficulties in applying information technology and digital transformation in educational activities. The main reasons include certain limitations in digital competence development programs at military schools in terms of training content, training methods, and technological infrastructure. In addition, lecturers’ self-directed learning and self-development have not been sufficiently promoted. Based on an analysis of the theoretical foundations of digital competence and digital competence development for lecturers, this article provides an overview and assessment of the current situation, identifies existing gaps in professional development practices, and proposes several solutions, include: Enhancing awareness among relevant stakeholders; accurately identifying training content and innovating training methods; promoting lecturers’ active role in self-development; and building a digital ecosystem to improve lecturers’ digital competence and meet the requirements of the current educational digital transformation process.
